Known to gardeners since 1762 with beautiful white flowers and dark green centres Allium nigrum perform best in a sunny well-drained soil where a dry summer rest is possible.
The domed head can reach up to 12cm across and look majestic floating above shaggy astrantia in wilder areas of the garden.
