Description: 

Originating from Central Asia, Allium tuberosum is a perennial herb with a mild onion taste and white, star shaped flowers. Part of the medicinal plants genre, this herb is commonly known as the chive plant, whose blooms will attract pollinators to your garden in the summer months and will provide delicious flavour to summer salads.

The health and medicinal benefits of this variety are numerous. They are nutrient rich in potassium, calcium, fibre, have antidiabetic properties by helping to regulate blood sugar levels and are antimicrobial and antioxidant.

Additional Information & Planting instructions:

Grow in full sun to partial shade in moist but well-drained fertile soil. Plant bulbs 10-12cm deep, 20cm apart. Keep the soil moist but not soggy. Drought-tolerant once established. Snip leaves regularly to encourage growth. Cut back flower stalks, post-bloom to promote foliage.
