Also known as Blazing Star or Gay Feather plants, Liatris spicata have delicate florets of floristan violet flowers and are one of the only plant that flowers from the top down in colorful spikes. They have a long bloom time and these dramatic prairie plants provide scented wands to naturalistic and cottage garden schemes. Mass planting this purple flower attracts pollinators such as native bees, butterflies and the occasional sighting of the liatris borer moth in the garden.
We recommend you plant each corm in the spring in moist soil 10-15cm deep. They are deer resistant.
Liatris spicata also makes a wonderful cut flower
